A well-known type of Cold Water Immersion, is taking ice baths or cold showers. Cold Water Immersion is a great way to activate the body’s natural healing powers, and to make it able to relieve symptoms of various medical conditions. When practiced on a regular basis, the positive effects of exposure to cold last even longer. 6. What should I wear during a cold plunge session?

Comfortable swimwear or athletic wear (sports bra, shorts, etc) is recommended for the cold plunge session. Additionally, bringing a change of clothes is advisable for your comfort during + after the session. We provide towels for your convenience.

7. How do you keep the water clean?

Water maintenance is a breeze with our built in 2-step water filtration system and non-chlorine based sanitizer. The Edge Tub has an external strainer to catch any hair, lint, or debris from entering the unit, and a 20 micron filter for extra purification. Adding Oxidizer weekly and Sanitizer as needed ensures the water will stay clear and sanitary. The high-flow water pump also circulates 100% of the water every 15-25 minutes.

8. Who should not partake in cold water immersion?

If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, have cardiovascular disease, or epilepsy, you should not partake in cold water immersion. If you have any other preexisting medical conditions, please consult with your physician prior to use. Additional Contraindications are listed below.


Are there any precautions and Contraindications for Cold Plunge?

  • Severe cold-induced urticaria, a skin reaction to cold that appears within minutes after cold exposure

Contrast Therapy

Contrast therapy involves alternating between hot + cold temperatures to help stimulate the body’s natural healing response. One way to do this is by combining cold plunges with an infrared sauna.

To do contrast therapy with an infrared sauna + cold plunge, a person would spend a certain amount of time in the infrared sauna (usually around 10-15 minutes), then immediately immerse themselves in the cold plunge for a few minutes before returning to the sauna. This cycle is repeated several times, with the entire session lasting about 50-minutes.

The idea behind contrast therapy is that the hot and cold temperatures cause the blood vessels to dilate + constrict, which helps to improve circulation + reduce inflammation, leading to a variety of health benefits.
